About Moi

Hiya Pal! I’m Emily, the owner, designer, and maker behind WeveGotEars. I am a lifelong crafter, artist, and sewist.

If that sounds familiar, you may know that I opened this shop back in 2015 as a part time hustle and it turned into a full time job within 2 years. (Amazing and I still can’t believe it).

So, for the next 6 years I became a Disney Parks fanatic. I held the coast to coast AP (when they still used to have it). I worked very hard on the shop and spent most of my free time at the parks. I even moved to California so I could live right next to Disneyland for a year. My entire professional and social life became wrapped up in Disney. Then the PannyCake came and I pivoted to making masks.

As you can probably imagine, I eventually burned out, and hard. So, my husband and I sold everything we owned and traveled the world for almost 2 years. Because that’s a reasonable solution 😆. But it was the time of our lives! We even had APs at Disneyland Paris!

During all this, I had closed the shop and vowed I would never make ears again. I swore I would always move forward and felt like going back to making ears would not allow me to grow as a designer. I felt so tied up in Disney I didn’t know my own voice.

When we returned to the US, we settled down in San Francisco where my husband got a great job. But, I was feeling listless. I was mourning the loss of full-time travel and didn’t see a way forward. I didn’t have a purpose. I was designing a lot of clothes for myself, but I didn’t have the skills to take that any further.

After a lot of reflection, I realized sometimes the way forward is back. So, I started going back to school for graphic design and fashion design (at age 41 - it’s never too late!) and I went back to designing the one thing I knew I could - ears and park accessories. To sum it up, it brought my spark back! And I opened the shop back up!

Now, I am sharing my mouse ear and accessories patterns with YOU!

WeveGotEars DIY will kick of in Summer 2024 and continue until I've shared everything you are interested in. You can buy patterns and supplies here on this site and reference my tutorials on YouTube
